Andy Murray is apparently in the running as heavy favorite among ten contenders for the prestigious 2013 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
The Scot who thrilled a nation with his Wimbledon title last summer a year after winning gold at the London Olympics, is given extremely short odds to lift the annual gong.
Murray is no stranger to the post-season big stage, finishing third in the balloting a year ago. The award will be presented December 15 in Leeds. Murray is currently training in Miami as he regains fitness after September back surgery.
Should Murray lift the award he would become the fourth tennis player to it and the first since Greg Rusedski beat Tim Henman in 1997. The short-list was being revealed this week on BBC television.
