A Milos Raonic fundraiser fun day in Toronto has raised $120,000 in support of the Milos Raonic Foundation and Tennis Canada’s Let’s Make Tennis Matter for Kids campaign. Also participating was Canadian teenager Eugenie Bouchard, named last week as WTA Newcomer of the Year.
The funds raised at the second edition of the day will go to the player’s foundation, which tries to assist disadvantaged children. Tennis Canada will also benefit with monies to grow youth tennis in poorer Canadian neighborhoods. “We raised a lot of money that will make a difference for a lot of kids getting into tennis and also for disadvantaged kids,” said Raonic, 11th in the world. “And that was pretty much our goal this night, so I’m really grateful for that.”
The event comprised a dozen fundraising teams competing in a series of circuit-style challenges including ping pong and nerf tennis. Bouchard led one of the squads. “I did the event last year and it was a lot of fun and competitive,” said the WTA player. “This year, I told my team that we have to win.”
