Milos Raonic is lending his high sporting profile in Canada to a combined charity-commercial initiative, with Toronto complex Commerce Court sponsoring a day with the world No. 11.
The complex, a group of four office buildings in the central city financial district, will use the player to kick-start the holiday season.
Raonic will launch a holiday drive for new or “gently-used” sports balls of all kinds in support of the local Big Hearts for Fresh Starts initiative, which encourages active lifestyle habits among youth by providing sporting equipment to at-risk communities.
The group distributes sports equipment to children & youth programs, schools, camps, community centers and low-income families across the Greater Toronto Area. Fans attending and making a donation get the chance for an autograph, photo and question or two with Raonic, highest ranked Canadian tennis player in the history and first from his nation to crack the ATP top 10.
Raonic will be starting his 2014 season at the Hopman Cup in Perth a few days after Christmas , teaming with teenaged sensation Eugenie Bouchard in the international mixed team event.
