DAVIS CUP GETS THE "KISS OF DEATH" BY THE "SUPER SUITS" IN TENNIS |
Sometimes it’s more than a game. More than money. Most of my biggest highs and toughest loses came in 5 set epic Davis Cup matches in front of screaming home or away fans. Being in a team, playing in Australia and having that home support, playing away ties against the worlds best on their home soil. For the ITF to take that away from the next generation of future stars is a disgrace and something I’m so disappointed that they’ll never get to experience. #SorryDwightDavis #NeverBeTheSame – photo by @lleytonhewitt89 via Instagram.
The biggest tennis childhood memories I have all come from @daviscuptennis. It’s a huge reason why I wanted to become a professional tennis player. I wanted to play for Sweden. I wanted the tracksuit in the picture more than anything! I wanted to play in front of my home crowd. It saddens me that kids in Sweden wont experience that anymore. To this day, Sweden-France in Malmö is my biggest sporting memory ever with @nicklaskulti losing to his cramps and Arnaud Boetsch in the deciding rubber. Yesterdays decision proves to me that you can’t fight greed… And I can’t understand why @jockenys is wearing jeans in the picture. #sadface – photo by @robertlindstedt via Instagram.
Davis Cup brought my career its highest highs and lowest lows. Win or lose, those matches were always my proudest and will live with me forever. I hope this reform doesn’t extinguish the extreme atmospheres and emotions that made this competition so unique. – photo by @bryanbros via Instagram.
