– With the win Wednesday, 39-year-old Ivo Karlovic becomes the oldest US Clay quarterfinalist in the Open Era. He’s the oldest quarterfinalist at an ATP World Tour event since 39-year-old Tommy Haas at Stuttgart in 2017.

-Two more Americans are guaranteed to reach that round with a pair of all-American matches scheduled Thursday, but as many as four may advance. The US Clay Houston-era record is five American quarterfinalists, which was set in 2002 and equaled in 2017.

– Three former champions are in action Thursday, including defending champion Steve Johnson, 2013 winner John Isner and 2015 winner Jack Sock. They will look to join 2007 winner Ivo Karlovic in the quarterfinals.

– Isner enters Thursday’s match with 9,968 career aces. He is bidding to be the fourth player to reach the 10,000 ace milestone, joining Karlovic (12,604 through two rounds here this week), Roger Federer (10,463) and Goran Ivanisevic (10,131). Isner has hit 351 aces in his 23 career US Clay matches.

– Karlovic is also in doubles this week, the first time he has played doubles since the 2016 French Open. Monday was his first doubles match win since claiming the title at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2015.

– Six-time doubles champions Bob and Mike Bryan picked up their sixth win in a row Wednesday, and have won 13 of their last 15 matches. On Thursday, they will be bidding for an 11th US Clay semifinal and their 40th career win at the tournament. They are 39-9 all-time at the event.
