Serena Williams is celebrating a new title with pure joy: motherhood.

The 35-year-old Serena and fiancé Alexis Ohanian introduced the world to their newborn baby daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr. in a series of Instagram posts this week.

Serena gave birth to her baby daughter on Friday, September 1st at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Baby Alexis weighed in at 6 lbs., 13 oz.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed there were “a lot of complications” during the pregnancy, but after spending about a week in the hospital, the proud mom and beautiful baby are now bonding together at home.

“So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days,” Serena said in an Instagram clip introducing her baby. “It’s been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got — we got a baby girl!”

Serena, who celebrates her 36th birthday on September 26th, rang in the New Year with an engagement ring, announcing her engagement to Reddit co-founder Ohanian.

Last April, she stunned the tennis world announcing she was 20 weeks pregnant. Williams revealed she was pregnant when she defeated older sister Venus in the Australian Open final to collect her Open Era-record 23rd Grand Slam.

Serena has won more Grand Slam titles than any woman in history after age 30.

Will she join a select group and win majors after giving birth?

Back in 2009 Kim Clijsters defeated Caroline Wozniacki to win the US Open title 18 months after giving birth to daughter Jada.

The 26-year-old Clijsters became the first mother to raise a Grand Slam singles title since Evonne Goolagong Cawley won the 1980 Wimbledon.

Both Serena and her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, have said she plans to launch a comeback in 2018, perhaps even attempting to defend her Australian Open championship.

“Obviously, ideally I would love to come back,” Williams told the media in a conference call during Wimbledon. “I plan on coming back. I plan on playing. But at the same time, this is a whole new chapter in my life. So I’ll see how that is.”
