Olympic Gold Medalist Jack Sock and Coco Vandeweghe to Represent United States in Sport’s Most Prestigious Mixed-Doubles Event

Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus will provide complete live coverage of all 2017 Hopman Cup competition next week, including the United States’ battle with the Czech Republic. Representing the United States, Olympic gold medalist Jack Sock will partner with rising-star Coco Vandeweghe in the annual mixed-doubles tournament. Tennis Channel will show all U.S. competition, in addition to all other matches. Viewers can also catch all Hopman Cup competition live in its entirety on digital subscription service Tennis Channel Plus. Hopman Cup matches feature teams of one man and one woman and take place at the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia, January 1-7.

 

Tennis Channel Plus will carry the United States-Czech Republic matchup live beginning at 9 p.m. ET, Saturday, Dec. 31. Tennis Channel will show the match in the United States the next morning at 7:30 a.m. ET., Sunday, Jan. 1. Tennis Channel Plus is available to everyone in the United States, regardless of whether they currently subscribe to the television network. Among the stars set to play this weekend are Switzerland’s Roger Federer, Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, France’s Richard Gasquet and Germany’s Andrea Petkovic.

 

The United States continues to lead all nations in Hopman Cup titles, claiming its sixth crown in 2011. Sock will return to the tournament for his second time. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he won a gold medal in mixed doubles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands and a bronze medal in men’s doubles with Steve Johnson. Sock reached this year’s fourth round at the US Open by defeating former US Open champion Marin Cilic. His partner Vandeweghe will make her Hopman Cup debut this weekend. This year she advanced to the finals at the US Open with mixed-doubles partner Rajeev Ram.

 

The Americans’ first challenge is the Czech Republic’s Lucie Hradecka and Adam Pavlasek. Hradecka holds 21 doubles crowns, including US Open and French Open women’s titles and a French Open mixed-doubles championship. At last year’s Australian Open, Hradecka received her biggest career singles win by defeating former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic in the first round. Pavlasek made his Grand Slam debut in May at the French Open and won his first ATP Challenger Tour title this year in Prague, Czech Republic. He also finished runner-up in three other events in 2016.
