Juan Martin del Potro Leads Argentina against
Fellow Former US Open Champion Marin Cilic in Zagreb, Croatia
Tennis Channel will provide exclusive, live coverage of the 2016 Davis Cup championship between Argentina and Croatia in Zagreb, Croatia, this weekend, beginning Friday, Nov. 25, at 8 a.m. ET. Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro will lead Argentina as it attempts to win its first Davis Cup title. Del Potro, who won the US Open in 2009, will face 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic for the first time since defeating him at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Paris in 2013. Del Potro has the career upper hand, holding an 8-2 record against Cilic.
The year-end team team-cup championship will consist of two singles matches on Friday, Nov. 25, at 8 a.m. ET, followed by the doubles match Saturday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m. ET. Tennis Channel’s coverage concludes with the remaining singles play Sunday, Nov. 27, at 8 a.m. ET. Each of the five matches is worth one point, with the team that wins at least three points winning the Davis Cup title.
Argentina hopes to uphold its all-time unbeaten record against Croatia (3-0). The most recent competition was during the 2012 Davis Cup quarterfinal, when Argentina won 4-1 in Argentina. The Argentine team finished as Davis Cup runner-up 1981, 2006, 2008 and 2011.

Croatia earned its spot in this weekend’s championship after a 3-2 win over France in its semifinal. The nation clinched its first Davis Cup trophy in 2005, when it defeated Slovakia 3-2. Croatia is captained by Zeljko Krajan and features Cilic, Ivo Karlovic, Borna Coric and Ivan Dodig.
Argentina comes into the competition after an impressive 3-2 victory over defending champion Britain in Glasgow, Scotland. Argentina’s captain Daniel Orsanic will lead del Potro, Federico Delbonis, Guido Pella and Leonardo Mayer into the finals this weekend.
