London, UK, Friday 1 July: The All England Club has confirmed that on account of the poor weather experienced to date in the first week, play will take place on Middle Sunday – 3 July – for the fourth time in Wimbledon’s history (previously 1991, 1997 and 2004).
The move has been made in order to reduce the backlog of matches and to allow The Championships to finish as scheduled. Tickets will only be available for purchase in advance online on a first-come first-served basis with a limit of two per household. None will be available for sale on the day.
The full details for the arrangements for Middle Sunday will be announced at 1.00pm on Saturday 2 July.
Editors Notes: our buddy Johnny Perkins and his staff have worked tirelessly as has the entire staff currently involved in the worlds greatest tennis event.
The rain just won’t go away. Our hearts go out to the players. Frustration levels are running high. The players are trying to figure out when and what to eat or rest. Or ride a stationary bike. Or stretch. Or where they can nap. Those locker rooms and player areas fill up. Especially in today’s game where you have almost every player with thier own entourages.
