Madrid Postcards from Aja

How might one describe the cuisine in Madrid? Delicioso. Muy, muy delicioso.

Our amazing 10sballs tennis enthusiasts have requested a full report on the food experience here in Madrid… so far, this is what I’ve discovered for you:

Tapas are small plates of any kind of food and abundantly found on menus throughout Spain. Although served on small plates, tapas must not be confused with appetizers. The locals in Madrid explained to me that you begin and end your meal eating tapas and you do not stop until you’re full.

Calamari Tapas–fresh seafood tapas are abundant in Spain and this lightly battered Calamari was devilishly yummy. Photo by AJA for 10sBalls.

Paella Tapas–Spain is known for their expertly seasoned and prepared paella (and every local I’ve spoken to in Madrid swears their grandmother has the best paella recipe in the world)… today’s seafood paella tapa, complete with Langoustine (Prawns) will make you want to run to the back kitchen and kiss your new favorite Spanish Grandma! Dark Chocolate “6 Layer” Cake Tapas–Apparently, tapas can be chocolate too… and they do chocolate well here in Madrid. This chocolate tapa was another moan aloud experience, with six unique levels of dark, rich chocolate… not too sweet. Rich, very rich in depth and flavor. (Had that “linger in your mouth” feeling you might get after a satisfying glass of wine). Photo by AJA for 10sBalls.

When it comes to fantastic food, you cannot go wrong with the tapas and paella lovingly served in delicious local restaurants and shops surrounding Caja Magica.
