The first Saturday of the Miami Open is extremely popular with the South Florida locals who will bring a lot of flavor to the “sexiest tennis tournament in the world.”
Today’s matches feature Kei Nishikori, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams among a heap of other tennis stars. It’s a great schedule and line up of matches.
Nishikori plays a qualifier Pierre – Hugues Herbert who is a doubles specialist but is beginning to cut his teeth in singles as well. Herbert qualified for Indian Wells last week as well.
Rafael Nadal plays Damir Dzumhur which should provide a good tune up adjusting to the wind, heat and humidity. Serena Williams, who is extremely popular here at Key Biscayne plays later this afternoon against Zarina Diyas. Other interesting matches sure to draw large crowds are Jack Sock v Stakhovsky, Radwanska v. Brengle, Wawrinka v Kuznetzov , Baghdatis versus Krygios should be Amazeballs !
John Isner will play journeyman Tim Symczek in a battle of Americans And Grigor Dimitrov goes against Federico Delbonis. The uber talented and colorful Nick Kyrgios plays Marcus Baghdatis. Baghdatis likes Crandon Park because he won the Orange Bowl Junior Championship here as an 18 year old.
Matches are difficult to predict as one can see by all the upsets yesterday which turned the Miami Open upside down. It is hot and humid and the wind is usually a big factor although it is calm today. Plus the players are known to enjoy the night life of Miami so all bets are off.
