Stars Serena Williams and Jack Sock to Represent United States

in Sport’s Most Prestigious Mixed-Doubles Tournament

Tennis Channel will bring viewers exclusive live tournament coverage from the 2016 Hopman Cup beginning Saturday, Jan. 2, at 9 p.m. ET. Representing the United States, World No. 1 Serena Williams will partner with rising-star Jack Sock in the annual mixed-doubles tournament. Tennis Channel will bring viewers all U.S. competition as well as select other matches. Hopman Cup matches feature teams of one man and one woman and take place at the Perth Arena in Australia, January 2-9.

The United States continues to lead all nations in Hopman Cup titles, claiming its sixth crown in 2011. Twenty-one-time Grand slam champion Williams will return to Hopman Cup play for her fourth time. Williams has won Olympic gold medals, including one in singles and three in doubles with her sister Venus. She also holds 13 Grand Slam doubles titles and two mixed- doubles titles. Williams, a Hopman Cup finalist in 2015 with John Isner, has contributed to American Hopman Cup championships in 2003 and 2008. Sock advanced to this year’s fourth round at the French Open before falling to Rafael Nadal. In 2014, Sock paired with Canada’s Vasek Pospisil at Wimbledon to defeat reigning doubles champions Bob and Mike Bryan.

The Americans’ first challenge is Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina and Alexandr Dolgopolov. Svitolina had an impressive run at this year’s French Open, reaching her first quarterfinal at a major event before falling to Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic. The Ukrainian star captured her third WTA title at the Grand Prix SAR in Marrakech, Morocco. Ukraine’s top-ranked man, Alexandr Dolgopolov, defeated former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the first round at the Aegon Championship at Queen’s Club in London this year. Dolgopolov’s best performance at a major came in the 2011 Australian Open quarterfinal, where he lost to former World No. 1 Andy Murray.
