Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock are one win away from clinching the eighth and final spot at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after reaching the BNP Paribas Masters title match in Paris.

The Canadian/American duo defeated Dominic Inglot and Robert Lindstedt 7-6(6), 6-1 on Saturday to keep alive their dream of qualifying for the Final Showdown. Should they win the title on Sunday, in the last match of the regular season, they will usurp Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea to grab the eighth spot at the season finale, to be held at The O2 in London from 15-22 November.

“We’re thrilled to be in the final,” said Pospisil. “We know there’s still one more spot at the Finals. But we want to win this title in Paris and if [qualifying for London] is the consequence of our good play here, then that’s great. It’s one point, one game at a time. We’re going to go out there tomorrow and do our best and enjoy it. It’ll be a fun match tomorrow.”

Pospisil and Sock are through to their fourth ATP final of the season after a strong finish against Inglot and Lindstedt. The Canadian/American tandem stared down three set points at 3-6 in the tie-break, but reeled off five points in a row to sneak the opener. They then capitalised on their momentum as they raced through the second set with two breaks of serve, sealing victory in 68 minutes.

“It was a tough match,” said Pospisil. “We didn’t get off to the start that we wanted to. But we played well when we needed to. We were down in the tie-break and fought back well, saving three set points. Obviously that first set was crucial. We took the momentum into the second and played great the rest of the match.”

Last year’s Wimbledon champions are chasing their third title of the season, following victories at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (d. Bolelli/Fognini) and the China Open in Beijing (d. Nestor/Roger-Vasselin). They also finished runners-up at the Sony Open in Miami (l. to Bryans).

In Sunday’s final, they will face either second seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo or Czech duo Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek.
