Competing in their fourth tour-level event as a team, the British-Swedish duo is coming off a title run on the hard courts of Winston-Salem a week ago. They prevailed after one hour and 16 minutes and will face either sixth seeds Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea or ninth seeds Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
In other action, No. 12 seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut needed just 63 minutes to dispatch Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez, while Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa downed Colin Fleming and Treat Huey6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Herbert and Mahut are bidding to reach their second Grand Slam semi-final of the year after streaking to the Australian Open final (l. to Bolelli/Fognini).
No. 8 seeds Jamie Murray and John Peerseliminated Philipp Oswald and Adil Shamasdin 6-4, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals. The British-Australian duo took the first set without facing a break point, then claimed the win on their second match point after 78 minutes of play.
