Hello Flushing Meadows. Flushing anything sounds like a weird name. But ok I’m jet waged. No that’s jet lagged. What a trip. We puddle jumped across the continents. Had to change our flights cause we were heading For Havana. So was the storm. I don’t mess with mother nature.

The Taste of Tennis party at the W Hotel I missed. I heard it was packed and that everyone had a great time. The food was amazing. So were the swag bags. I swear that un-burn is the best product. So healing on everything , even rubbing from fancy shoes. Sunburns for sure. So it must be magic in the kitchen. I wouldn’t know. All I make in the kitchen is ICE !

I did catch the next Taste of tennis party with the pros (@ The Langham ). Those Lerner ladies never disappoint. A great set up. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Ok. Now on to more nonsense and more misc information :

The Ladies finals are sold out already. Serena slam…. That’s a first.

Jimmy Connors consulting with Genie Bouchard. I see this as a really positive alignment for both of them. Jimmy has so much to share. And hopefully Genie listens.

Great that the U.S. OPEN qualifying rounds were free to the public. The USTA had the food courts open. Which is a win win. People see great tennis for free and spend in the food court. The only missed opportunity was the big retail concession stand wasn’t ready or open. They could have sold a heap of shirts. Hats. Stuff. Oopsie someone’s snoozing. They said almost 50 thousand people attended the qualies. (46,894) that’s like 12,000-15,000 a day !

Katrina Adams is not the snoozing ! The president of the USTA is without a doubt the best the U.S. has had in decades. Decades I say. She is everywhere. The rest of the “shoe clerks ” as Judge Robert J. Kelleher called them just like to show up at Davis C up and slams VIP enclosures. Katrina has a real LOVE and passion for the game. She opened the stock market. She ran up to Connecticut . She was at the Althea film showings. She was at Forest Hills. She was literally everywhere. She could run for president of the United States !

We made a pit stop at the Essex House. Had to. We used to keep a place there. I’m certain team member Phoebe would have preferred the Waldorf or the Plaza. But it was the Essex House. It will always hold a special place in all of our hearts.

Still angry at the U.S.Open for not giving Vicky Duvall a wildcard. The cute and sweet hardworking girl beat cancer and was on her comeback. Giving her a WC into qualies was an insult. She deserved a main draw!!! [ another Bad Call ] The Girl Deserved It !

So what was up with Roger Federer and the dark beard? That man has (Had?) a big GILLETTE Razors contract… Is it up ? Is it up for renewal ? What’s up Tony ?

What’s up with Novak and his Mickey Mouse stuffed toy at his press conference ? Is he trying to get Disney’s attention? He was seen a few months ago wearing a MICKEY MOUSE t-shirt. Any idea why? There’s a reason folks. There’s always a reason.

Ok and what’s up with RAFA and TOMMY HILFIGER. I’m not saying it isn’t a sizzling hot underwear ad campaign. But ATP brought him on board to help promote the ATP players. Not any one player. Bravo Benito. But really. Why aren’t there a dozen or two of the ATP hunks. Or more. They are all fit and hot.

Editor’s Note: Just to adding to all the tidbits… Maria Sharapova pulled out of the U.S. Open for the second time in three years this Sunday, withdrawing because of a lingering right leg injury.
