Top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan needed just 47 minutes to dispatch wild cards Christopher Eubanks and Donald Young 6-2, 6-4 in the BB&T Atlanta Open semi-finals.
“The first match we’ve ever won on the ATP World Tour was here in Atlanta,” said Bob. “In 1996, it was on Stadium Court of the Athletic Club against Dave Randall and Mark Keil – 7-6, 7-6. (Eubanks) wasn’t born yet. He’s got a bright future.
“Any ATP final, no matter how many you’ve been in, always gets the juices flowing. We’ll do the same thing, the same warm-up, same routine. We’ll let it fly. On finals day, both teams are playing well, so you have to be more aggressive and you have to go for it.”
The Bryans are seeking their 107th ATP World Tour crown and fourth this year, adding to titles in Delray Beach and the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 stops in Miami and Monte-Carlo.
Atlanta is the 13th different U.S. city the Bryans are trying to win an ATP World Tour title in and the 32nd different city overall. They are making their first tournament appearance in Atlanta since 2001, when the event was contested on clay.
“Finals aren’t given to you,” said Mike. “You have to take them and play aggressively.”
