One of the issues that befall this chick is getting about in Spain. Staying in someone’s apartment just a few minutes’ walk away from the Caja Magica and as luck would have it, two other tennis nuts are staying at the same place.

But alas they get to toddle around in dressing gowns with coffee while Global Chick dons her laptop bag and strikes out for the steel construction that is The Magic Box.

Today was perhaps another sedate day, with maybe the news being that Ana Ivanovic regained a bit of the pleasing aggression we saw last year, as it transpire she parted company with her coach at the weekend. Why would that be a help? Well for once it was all on her shoulders with no one to “blame” and honestly, we really think it made a difference to her game.

We think we’re seeing the same with Agnieszka Radwanska who has returned to winning ways after the announcement that she is no longer working with tour legend Martina Navratilova.

Of course we have to feel sorry for Radwanska’s latest winning spree, as she faces an in-form Caroline Wozniacki ahead of her. And if the truth be told, this match has been bumped to Court 3, and even Tomas Berdych has been shoved off to Court 4, as the main action of the day is, quite frankly to use a more global vernacular… “Unreal”!

We will kick off the day’s action with an impressive looking Maria Sharapova against Caroline Garcia. The Frenchwoman charmed the pants off us at Stuttgart worrying that when you beat at Top 10 player they will want to kill you. The fact she gave Ana Ivanovic a bloody nose three times in a row – she’d better watch out for death by fits-pump.

Then get the popcorn out for “Vika-Rena” – this is going to be a spicy encounter, and without indulging in the hype, it will be the first encounter since the start of 2014. Back then the pair had a healthy regard for each other and they were on the verge of an endurng rivalry. Then Serena’s hitting partner Sascha Bajin joined Vika’s team after she started to work with Wim Fissette when her long standing partnership with Sam Sumyk came to an end. Neither wanted to be engaged on any discussion about the match up, but rest assured there will be questions ahoy afterwards.

And finally, we get a double-whammy with Rafael Nadal just after siesta time, followed by Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios. By this time we might gallop to the concessions for some pasta or pizza (yes we know we’re in Spain) before we have Andy Murray v Philipp Kohlschreiber – the return of the Lederhosen. This is the toughest one to call – the German is no slouch on clay, which we saw to full effect on Monday.

Global Chick is therefore bribing her housemates with extra beer from the bar downstairs so that we can all stroll back in the cold Madrid air after perhaps the most loaded schedule of the tournament so far.
