Today marks Day 1 of the Collegiate Tennis Challenge wherein 8 Division 1 men’s teams will be competing for the title. 2015 marks the second year of this exciting opportunity for the top college players to showcase their talent at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Grounds passes are all that’s needed to watch these incredible young men lay it on the line for their university. If you’ve never had the chance to see a top college team in action, you are in for a special experience. Fans will have courtside seats for some amazing tennis, so get there early and cheer loudly for your favorite teams.
This year’s participants include Oklahoma (1), Baylor (3), USC (4), Tulsa (20), Cal-Berkeley (28), Columbia (29), BYU (NR), and Purdue (NR).
Friday’s matches include:
Oklahoma vs. Purdue
Columbia vs. Cal-Berkeley
USC vs. Tulsa
BYU vs. Baylor
All matches will be played on the Practice Courts located next to the soccer field. Today and tomorrow, match play will begin at 8:30am following a 7:30am warmup. Sunday’s Championship Match will begin at 10:00am. Both the winners and losers of each of today’s matches will advance to play again on Saturday in this ITA-format event. Matches will begin with 3 doubles matches playing one full set followed by 6 singles matches playing the best 2 out of 3 full sets. Both singles and doubles will use no-ad scoring.
