WE ARE JUST BACK FROM THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN.GREAT TENNIS. GREAT FUN. WELL ORGANISED. DOWN UNDER THINGS ARE JUST AMAZEBALLS !THANK YOU CRAIG TILEY FOR BEING THE BEST TOURNEY DIRECTOR
Players Got More Money For TRAVEL Assistance TO THE arriving @ THE Australian Open FROM ALL PARTS Of THE WORLD.
The Australian Open has increased its travel allowance for players, giving more than $1,088,000 to assist with expenses for coming for the tournament.
This is in addition to other expense amounts given by the tournament, which include $300 a day for accommodations and $60 a day for meals, according to the New York Times. All players, including qualifiers, receive the travel allowance.
It is also set to increase, with tournament director Craig Tiley telling players that the tournament is “going to take all your expenses away,” according to the publication.
The travel allowance was introduced three years ago, in response to player complaints that the expense of traveling to Australia meant many could not break even unless they won a round at the tournament. Along with large prize money increases and new facilities, it represents a bid by the Australian Open to be the most player-friendly tournament.
No other Grand Slam gives a travel allowance.

Editors notes from 10sBalls.com : Craig Tiley we applaud you. Since the recent mainstream attention to tennis players salaries versus almost any other sport. They only players making money are in the top ten. In 2014 Craig implemented a $1,500 check to each player upon their arrival. This year (2015) he increased it to $2,500.00. He plans on an increase each year.
On top of that he added a free re stringing policy for each round you won. Players rackets normally run them $25-$35 per racket per stringjob labor. ( Craig gave you 5 string Jobs per round ) Players have string deals. Like our friends at SOLINCO . They take their “Reels” to the stringing room with their specific stringing instructions.
So Craig gets ” IT” ! They are all nice , friendly , thoughtful gestures that are appreciated and don’t go un noticed. They say his transport people are the best and nicest too. We tend to agree. A lot of their drivers are school teachers. They are on summer school break so it works well. Taxes are high at the end of the tourney. But what can we say. It’s almost perfect. And it’s the “HAPPY SLAM ” , add the FUN one too.
