Kyrgios Makes Coaching Change And Gets A London Base
Aussie teen Nick Kyrgios will establish a base in London, and is looking to break into the top eight next season.
Having reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, Kyrgios is now looking at buying a house in the area to use between tournaments. Most Australian players have a second home, finding it impractical to return Down Under frequently during the season.
“It’s always good coming back here,” he told the Melbourne Age. “I’m looking for a place here, actually, to sort of base here when I can.”
He is also now back with former coach Todd Larkham, having stopped working with Simon Rea despite being with the coach during his run at Wimbledon. “Todd was really big for my development when I was a youngster and I think we have such a good relationship, so I’m back with him, and I’m just looking forward to starting things up again with him,” said Kyrgios, who will return to train next week in Melbourne.
Having begun this year below the top 100, Kyrgios is aiming to make top eight and the ATP Tour Finals.
“I think next year’s realistic if I’m staying healthy and playing the level of tennis that I played this year. I think it’s more than capable of happening,” he said.
It would also be another week to spend in his apartment at London, the city where the ATP Tour Finals are played.
