Andy Murray is misunderstood. He really is. The guy always gives his all. Usually he wears his heart on his sleeve but yesterday in London @theO2 arena it was a “POPPY” on his sleeve . Why a POPPY ? No he isn’t being sponsored by a Colombian cartel. It’s because the British people honor the ones who have fallen in war. They really show the proper respect for fallen soldiers of all wars. Roger Federer was @the tower of London which is a sea of red. British people paid £25 per ceramic poppy made. Andy Murray had it embroidered on his shirt. There’s not a person on TV in Britain not wearing one. They have them all over town in containers, in shops and store counters. You help yourself to one and put $ in the container. Any contribution will do. The official ceremony day is on November 11 and the 11th hour.

O.K. back to the Murray’s.

Andy Murray & his older brother Jamie & his mother Judy and even grandma Shirley are all major tennis champions. They played through the adversity of school shootings, living in Scotland ( not an easy place to get tennis practice in , it’s not Spain folks ) and being Brit / Scot / Brit and handling it all with great pride and humility. The man won Wimbledon. First Brit since Fred Perry (a feat that wasn’t achieved by Jeremy Bates, Greg Rusedski or Tim Henman to name a few or Roger Taylor or John Barrett ..) He was one of the top 8 last year and could have been a contender in last year’s ATP World Tour Finals. But had to have back surgery. It’s #AmazeBalls that he is back from back surgery to this level so fast. He has great determination and discipline and put in hours of rehab. Where’s the hero welcome?

FYI Andy, the great rock and roller from FOREIGNER , MICK JONES wanted to see you play in NYC and meet you at the U.S.OPEN. But the ” U.S.OPEN people ” never got back to any of Mick Jones people with an invite.
