DIRECTVs US OPEN EXPERIENCE Aug. 25-31
Billie Jean King National Tennis Center – Flushing Meadows, NY
The early rounds at the US Open never fail to offer surprising upsets and great tennis – last year 17-year-old Victoria Duval beat former champ Samantha Stosur in round one, Lleyton Hewitt took down Juan Martin del Potro in the second, and 136th ranked Camila Giorgio whipped 6th seed Wozniacki in the third round. As new stars emerge and top seeds fall, fans can catch all the action during the first seven days of the tournament with DIRECTV’s US Open Experience Aug. 25-31.
In partnership with ESPN, CBS Sports Network and Tennis Channel, DIRECTV will provide live bonus coverage of the event through its US OPEN Mix Channel, featuring five additional outer court channels – all in HD – in addition to the main network on channels 701-708. Viewers can tune each Mix Channel to full-screen.
New Mix Channel Features this year include: A Dynamic Mix Layout that maximizes the viewing experience by enlarging each cell’s screen size as matches conclude; a Twitter feed allows the viewer to get the latest social commentary for each match; and a Ticker at the bottom of the Mix screen provides real-time scores, commentary and messages.
The US Open Experience’s interactive app, available on all event channels, will have a new look and feel this year and broadband-enabled features include: a complete tournament draw for Men’s, Women’s and Mix Doubles and Player headshots.
The Interactive feature menu can be brought up alongside the broadcast video by pressing the red button on the remote. Menu items include: My Players, fans can tag their favorite players to see bio information, match schedule and results; Player Bio, users get player bio info, access to their scorecard or add a player to their My Player’s list; Match Schedule, provides a convenient view of current match scores on each court channel; viewers can browse the current ON NOW (and UPCOMING) televised matches, and at a press of a button, tune directly to that channel; Recent Results, offers real-time scoring of in-progress, completed, and upcoming singles matches from the day before or that day’s play, completed matches will also include the winner’s next opponent (or possible opponents), as well as the day and time of that upcoming match; Complete Men’s & Women’s tournament draw , provides the complete tournament draw, from first round to final round, complete with scores.
