Middle Sunday @ wimby. Serena & Venus are both out of the singles, but they aren’t packing up & leaving London just yet. They are playing doubles together. Not the same for Flipkens. She is out. Sorry Flip. Once you’ve tasted semis at Wimbledon one tends to put too much pressure on themselves. Slams in general are all pressure cookers. The best thing in London is you can stay near the courts. It’s very expensive but you can do it. We were lucky we found a super spot a few years ago. Not telling where it is. Sorry. Before that we loved the Conrad @ Chelsea Barbour. What a great spot. Lots of players enjoyed it as well. Mark Woodforde , Jennifer Capriati , Anna kournikova , John McEnroe , Richard Krajicek but that’s just off the top of my head who we’d would see around and about. Oh and Boris Becker and family. The kids played footsie un the hall.
Ok. So onto whose doing what on the middle Sunday of no play.
Some unfortunate players had matches suspended due to darkness. Yikes they now have to go to sleep two nights in a row taking an undpfinished match to the mattress.
Alize Cornet is celebrating followed by resting followed by celebrating followed by resting. Lots of players will be on couches watching FIFA World Cup. Lots will be at parks. Finding grass courts. On bicycles. At movies. Shopping centers. Gyms. It’s definitely weird having a break in the middle of an event. Very weird the way it throws off the rhythm of the event.
The hardcore fans are spending Sunday camped out waiting to que and get tickets for Monday. Literally camped out in tents all night. All day. This group is waiting almost 36 hours to be the spectators for Mondays matches. The que is a whole story in itself. Some people have spent years making friends in que. They barbecue. They all talk tennis.
The Roger Federer clan. Oh boy are they all looking forward to a Family Day !
