It was another fantastic day of tennis @theboodles. It was really everything a day of lawn tennis should be. It has something to offer for everyone. What a truly glorious wonderful place and event. We must thank the brilliant Faye Andrews and Eleanor Preston. (The Emilia group ) They are so passionate and think of every detail. Fantastic event. Scores a ten for ten. Look for Pancho’s Postcard coming in a few hours. Great photos. Really fantastic event.

“To be playing at The Boodles is always a lot of fun. A couple of years in the past I have played some good players. There is always a very good field of players coming here and we had a really nice day today. There was sunshine and a full crowd so its always enjoyable to play anywhere with a full crowd, especially here at The Boodles. The club is really nice, it’s organised well and it’s sensational so it’s a big pleasure.”
The importance of playing The Boodles for your Wimbledon preparation?
“I think it’s really important, because last week at Queens I didn’t have too many matches so to play here, like a real match with the referees and the balls girls, you get into the practice of the match. As it’s two or three days before Wimbledon, I think it’s a really good preparation.”
On his first round Wimbledon opponent?
“I played Paul Henri Mathieu a couple of months ago in Madrid and now for a second time in Wimbledon. I have to be really careful because Mathieu has not been too much on the tour and had too many great results because of his back injury. But he did not forget how to play tennis and he still knows how to hit the ball. I will have to be really focussed, because everybody can play and I have seen so many upsets so I am going to be ready for the first point.”
How much confidence do you gain from having Goran in your corner?
“Big confidence. Even this week we worked on my serve and it seems that as soon as we do it a little more carefully it stays right in the spot and I am really confident in my game and to have Goran in my corner, is a really big opportunity for me to do well at Wimbledon.”
Philipp Kohlschreiber d John Isner 6-3,6-3 in 55 minutes

Form heading into Wimbledon?
“I feel it’s actually pretty good, even though the result wasn’t the greatest today. I like to think that I am getting all my bad points out of the way. I feel really good. Regardless of how I am hitting the ball before a tournament, if I just don’t worry about it and enjoy what I am doing it will usually turn out my way and I am having a lot of fun.”
Courts at The Boodles compared to Wimbledon?
“The courts are extremely similar. I think all of the players that played at The Boodles have a little bit of an advantage actually, so its great.”
On facing GB wildcard Daniel Smethurst in the first round?
“I don’t know too much about him. That is for my coach to figure out but at the same time I know that he is a very good player. For me, it’s going to very tough. In order for me to win the match I am going to have to play very well. It is not easy, at the French Open I played a French wildcard. So he is going to have the crowd on his side and rightfully so, he certainly won’t have much to lose either. He is a good player and I am going to have to play a good match.”
Jerzy Janowicz d Jack Sock 6-3,3-6, 10-8 in 1 hour 9 minutes
Jerzy Janowicz
Why did you return to The Boodles?
“It is all the fun, I remember my match with Grigor Dimitrov last year and we had a lot of fun. I remember he put sun lotion on my back! I knew what to expect. I knew it was going to be a lot of fun again, great hospitality – so that is why I came back.”
Form going into Wimbledon?
“I am feeling ok actually, we will see how it’s going to be. I don’t like to put pressure on myself, I will try my best. I just want to focus on every single match. We will see – it would be nice to make the semi final again but that is not easy.”
First round Wimbledon opponent, Somdev Devvarman?
“I played against him twice, the first time in the qualifiers of the US Open, I lost that time. The last time was the Australian Open 2013 and I beat him in 5 sets after 4 hours 20 minutes.”
