Rafael Nadal has signed a six-year deal to represent television company Telefonica and its channels Movistar, O2 and Vivo.
Nadal will be used to promote viewership in Spain, United Kingdom, Germany and various Latin American countries. The company said it chose Nadal for the Spaniard’s association with “determination, the will to excel, modesty and talent.”
The agreement includes the establishment of a tennis academy run by the Rafael Nadal foundation in Mallorca, which will be sponsored by Movistar. Nadal will also be involved with the Telefonica Podium program, which will provide grants to 80 athletes to attend the Olympics.
Nadal will attend events at various locations as well as be used in promotional material and help develop content such as games for the company as part of the agreement. He will also be regularly filmed during tournaments by Movistar TV, which will show the videos on Spanish television.
We need to make a list of Rafa’s deals. They just don’t stop. It’s rumored he has bigger off court earnings than Roger Federer. At least that seems true for 2013 . Andy is a likable and good looking pleasant chap. Where are his deals ? He won Wimbledon ? I’m still baffled. Tennis agents are the laziest on the planet. With a few exceptions that are the hardest working guys on the planet. Benito and Team Rafa , and John Tobias , Max Eisenbud , those guys really hustle for their clients. All in the plus 40 million mark ? Wow. This is off court money. Or endorsement deals ?
