MICHAELLA KRAJICEK SAYS YES ! & LADIES GRASS RESULTS FROM EVERYWHERE  |

This past weekend Michaella Krajicek , Misa to her family & friends said yes to the marriage proposal done on court by her sweet and handsome beau of this past year. Martin Emmrich from Germany is the lucky guy. He currently holds the world ATP dubs ranking of 50. We spent time with the lovebirds in March and knew this was a love match. But a proposal on court after the match had Misa blushing and hiding in her towel. Yes , he actually went onto one knee and asked her to marry him. He had the ring. He got the yes. He got a kiss. It was great. Way to go Martin.

Eastbourne

Italians scored a pair of wins with Camila Giorgi spoiling the return from injury of fourth seed Victoria Azarenka 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Sixth seed Flavia Pennetta had an easy time as she reached the second round at the final pre-Wimbledon tune-up event, beating Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei, 6-3, 6-3.

But three other Italian women went down to defeat at Devonshire Park, as American Lauren Davis dispatched seventh seed Sara Errani 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, Ekaterina Makarova beat Francesca Schiavone 7-5, 6-3 and Daniela Hantuchova beat Roberta Vinci 7-5, 6-1.

Azarneka, who has not played since early March due to a foot injury, fought for two and three-quarter hours and emerged pleased with how she felt – loss aside. “I didn’t expect an easy walk through, that would be silly I’m pretty pleased with what happened. Obviously the result is a result.”

Giorgi will next play British wild card Johanna Konta, who won her second grass match in as many weeks with a defeat of Swiss qualifier Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-2. American Varvara Lepchenko defeated Zhang Shuai of China 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Czech seed Petra Kvitova, who lost the 2011 finalist, reached the second round with a defeat of compatriot Lucie Safarova, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (7-/4), winning on a third match point. Serb third seed Jelena Jankovic dropped to 0-3 at the tournament as she lost to American Madison Keys 6-3, 6-3.
