AEGON CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Queen’s Club
9th-15th June, 2014
Hewitt, Evans, Ward Headline Day One
Lleyton Hewitt will begin his hunt for a record fifth Aegon Championships title on Centre Court at The Queen’s Club on Monday. The 2002 Wimbledon Champion will face the unseeded Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the third match scheduled for the opening day of the 2014 Aegon Championships.
The first two matches on Centre Court feature British wild-cards James Ward and Dan Evans. Ward opens proceedings when he takes on Slovenian Blaz Rola. British No.2 Evans will be looking to recreate the form he found on the same grass-courts last year when he made the last 16. He takes on Jurgen Melzer of Austria.
In the last match on Centre Court, British brothers Ken and Neal Skupski will face a formidable task in the doubles competition against current Australian Open champion, Stan Wawrinka and 2012 Queen’s Clubs semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov in the last match scheduled on Centre Court.
Away from Centre Court, the 2010 Aegon Championships winner Sam Querrey faces Frenchman Jeremy Chardy on Court 1. They are followed by British wild card Daniel Cox against Adrian Mannarino of France.
The final round of qualifying concluded on Sunday with four players coming through to earn places in the main-draw. Australian James Duckworth, Germany’s Daniel Brands, Marsel Ilhan of Turkey and Uzbek Farrukh Dustov all went through.
Aegon Championships gates open at 10:30am on Monday, and play is scheduled to start at 12:30pm on all courts.

Murray Arrives and Announces Mauresmo Alliance
Andy Murray arrived back on the sun-kissed turf of The Queen’s Club on Sunday, practised for a couple of hours near to the Centre Court on which he won his third Aegon Championships title last year, and then revealed the identity of his new coach.
The British No.1, who will defend his Wimbledon title in a couple of weeks, has appointed fellow Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo for the duration of the grass court season.
“She won Wimbledon, she was World No.1, won the Australian Open, and just from speaking to her, she’s very calm, she’s a good person,” said Murray. “I think we will communicate well together and I think that’s a very important part of coaching. I hope it works well.”
Murray will open his Aegon Championships defence against either Paul-Henri Mathieu or Aljaz Bedene.
He can’t wait to get cracking.
“I always enjoy coming back here,” said Murray. “My first win on the ATP World Tour was here in 2005. So it’s coming up to 10 years now playing here. I always enjoy it. It’s great preparation coming up to Wimbledon and they have a fantastic field again this year. Last year everything worked out perfectly. It was the start of the best summer of my tennis career. I’m excited to get going.”
