Francis Tiafoe of the United States, the No. 1 seed in the junior boys singles event at the French Open, crashed out in the second round on Monday with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 loss to Jan Choinski of Germany. Tiafoe comes in at No. 4 in the ITF junior rankings, while Choinski is 31st.

Seven Americans advanced to the last 32 of the boys singles competition. Three have been ousted, with the other four set to take the court on Tuesday. Among those is No. 6 seed and also No. 6-ranked Stefan Kozlov, who won his opening match 6-4, 6-2 over Ryotaro Matsumura. Kozlov, a Pembroke Pines, Fla. native, will next go up against Akira Santillan. Hailing from Australia, Santillan is No. 74 in the world among junior boys.

The story is a similar one in the doubles draw, with Tiafoe (and partner Michael Mmoh) already out and Kozlov (and partner Andrey Rublev) still alive. Kozlov and Rublev are the No. 1 seeds; Tiafoe and Mmoh were No. 2, but they lost in the first round.
