– For the third straight year, three Americans have reached the quarterfinals at River Oaks. Should Sam Querrey, Jack Sock or Donald Young win Friday, it will mark the 14th consecutive year that an American has reached the semifinals of this tournament.

– Sock, Dustin Brown and Alejandro Gonzalez will all be attempting to reach their first career ATP World Tour semifinal in Friday’s matches.

– Colombians Santiago Giraldo and Gonzalez will be opponents on Friday afternoon in the singles quarterfinals, then team up to play in the doubles semifinal later in the day.

– Third seed Nicolas Almagro, last year’s runner-up, is the highest remaining seeded player. Almagro is tied for third among active players for career clay court wins with 235. The other seven quarterfinalists have a combined 256 clay victories.

– The ATP World Tour honored the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship as one of the 29 tournaments to have been members of the ATP since the Tour’s inception in 1990. The Clay Court Championship has been held at River Oaks Country Club since 2008.

– In honor of this being the 80th tournament to be hosted at River Oaks, a special exhibit showcasing the history of the event is on display near Becks Prime on the tournament grounds. It includes photography by Bob Straus from past tournaments as well as memorabilia on loan from the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The “Ticket Turnback” program is once again being used at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship. Patrons holding tickets for sessions they cannot attend can return them to the box office where they will be resold at face value, with the full purchase price being donated to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
