– The win over No. 9 John Isner was the first career match victory against a Top 10 player for Dustin Brown. Brown, who saved all nine break points he faced, is now 1-3 lifetime against Top 10 players. He will be playing in his fifth career ATP quarterfinal and the second of 2014.
– John Isner was looking to reach his third straight final at River Oaks and was attempting to be the first to repeat as U.S. Men’s Clay Courts champion since Andy Roddick won back-to-back titles in 2001-02.
– Juan Monaco, the 2012 champion here, recorded his 200th career clay court match win on Wednesday. He is the fifth active player to reach that milestone joining Rafael Nadal (298-21), David Ferrer (267-105), Tommy Robredo (235-104) and Nicolas Almagro (234-112).
– The Bryan brothers extended their 2014 winning streak to 15 straight matches. The twins are four-time Fayez Sarofim & Co. US Men’s Clay Court Championship winners. They are 29-7 all-time at the event, and have won 21 of their last 22 matches at the tournament.
– In honor of this being the 80th tournament to be hosted at River Oaks, a special exhibit showcasing the history of the event is on display near Becks Prime on the tournament grounds. It includes photographs from past tournaments as well as memorabilia on loan from the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
The “Ticket Turnback” program is once again being used at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship. Patrons holding tickets for sessions they cannot attend can return them to the box office where they will be resold at face value, with the full purchase price being donated to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
