This is an update about the Asics players. We wanted to share it with you. We love the Asics shoes. We think they are in a league of their own. Please enjoy these updates. If you are in the Coachella Valley come see the Easterbowl @ the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens.

As the tour head’s into the clay court season, we’ve had some exciting results of late with some of our ASICS players!

This week, Steve Johnson cracked the ATP Top 100 and is one spot away from a career high ranking which he will achieve in next week’s rankings! Stevie won again today and is in the semi-finals in Guadeloupe!

One of the biggest tennis stories of this week involves our very own Julia Boserup. Julia, currently ranked #302 after missing much of last year, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Monterrey Open as a qualifier, and she upset the #4 seed and #23 player in the world along the way!! Her ranking will jump up near 60 spots when next week’s rankings are announced after her remarkable run this week!!

Here is an update from this week:

Monterrey Open in Monterrey, Mexico

Julia Boserup must love the high altitude and fast conditions in Monterrey as she won three qualifying matches-all in straight sets, including a win over the #2 seed in qualifying-to advance to the main draw. In the main draw, she upset the #4 seed and #23 player in the world Kirsten Flipkens 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 and then yesterday won her match against fellow young American Allie Kiick 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to her first WTA quarterfinal. Julia joins two former world #1’s Wozniacki and Ivanovic in the final eight and is the lone American standing left in the singles draw. Julia has already beaten two players this week whom she had lost to in their previous meetings so this week has been a big improvement which will give her a lot of confidence as the season goes on.

Coco Vandeweghe had a remarkable run in Miami where she advanced to the 4th round as a qualifier and had some impressive wins over the 21st seed Pavlyuchenkova and 16th seed Sam Stosur (in a match that finished at 2:30am EST). Coco then lost to eventual winner Serena Williams and after the match Serena told her that they should play doubles together sometime! With her impressive run, Coco is now back in the Top 100 and her ranking has risen to #82 in the world. This week, Coco drew the 3rd seed Carolina Wozniacki but lost a close 6-3, 7-6(4) match. Coco and her partner Maria Sanchez are in the quarter-finals of the doubles draw!

Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina

Sam Stosur advanced to the third round of the FCC, but lost a very close match to the #9 seed and lefty Lucie Safarova 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

As the last direct entry into the main draw, Brazilian Teliana Pereira made the most of her opportunity and had a nice run advancing to the third round. Teliana upset the #8 seed Sorana Cirstea in a third set tie-breaker before losing to the #12 seed Daniela Hantuchova.

Alison Riske lost her first round match to Chanelle Scheepers in three sets.

Virginie Razzano advanced to the second round before losing to Safarova in three sets.

One week after their exciting semi-final run at the Sony Open in Miami, the #3 seeded doubles team, Abigail Spears and Raquel Kops-Jones booked a spot in yet another semi-final with a hard fought thrilling 6-4, 1-6, 16-14 win last night over Jelena Jankovic and Andrea Petkovic. Abi & Raquel fought off four match points in the highly contested match-tiebreak and eventually pulled out the win! They are the last Americans in tournament – both singles and doubles!! They are the #1 American doubles team and this week’s result may put the duo at #3 in the Race to the WTA Championships when next week’s rankings are announced!

Open de Guadelpu[e in Le Gosier, Guadeloupe (Carribean Islands)

ASICS has had an impressive showing in Guadeloupe this week as three of the four semi-finalists are in head-to-toe ASICS!!!

#3 seed Steve Johnson has won three matches en route to the semis and had an impressive quarter-final match today winning 6-4, 6-0 over fellow American Denis Kudla (ASICS FW).

#4 seed Michael Russell had his third three-setter of the week and fought off two match points to eventually prevail and win his match 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(2) over the big-serving 6’6″ Frenchman Fabrice Martin.

#1 seed Kenny de Schepper won his quarter-final match today to advance to the semis where he will be playing Michael Russell.
