The USTA is reportedly planning to build a national training center at Lake Nona, near Orlando, Florida, with potentially as many as 100 courts.
“It would be a comprehensive facility that would provide court access, coaching and player development for virtually every level of the game,” USTA managing director Chris Widmaier told the Orlando Sentinel.
The USTA said it has signed a letter of intent with Lake Nona Land Co. to construct a cutting-edge tennis center.
The center appears to be primarily for training players and USTA leagues, rather than a location for hosting professional events. No timeline for building was given.
The USTA has existing national training centers in Boca Raton, Florida, Flushing, NY, and Carson, California.
Editors note : Walt Disney had a dream. But he also had a vision. What are we missing here ? A demographic study ? Why not move out of stagnant suburbia of White Plains and move back into the bustling city of Manhattan. ? Where there’s more room for global thinking ? More than one hotel or a handful of restaurants ….. I hope Mickey and Minnie help out. I need to stop here because nothing the USTA does is logical.
