Na Li is the highest-paid Chinese athlete for the second year in a row, according to media group Titan Sports.

Li was estimated as earning 124.5 million Yuan ($20 million) last year, making her by far the top earner in the rankings published by the group.

The second-highest earner, the badminton player Dan Lin, was estimated at 30 million Yuan (about $ 5 million), and a swimmer, Yang Sun, was third with 22 million Yuan (approx. $3.5 million).

Forbes last year positioned Li as the third-highest earner among female athletes (No. 85 overall) with $18.2 million in annual income, $15 million from endorsements. Sharapova was first with $29 million, $23 million from endorsements, while Serena Williams got $20.5 million, $12 million from endorsements.

Li’s earnings are likely to increase following victory at the Australian Open, her second Grand Slam event title. Players frequently have bonus clauses in their contracts for winning major titles or reaching various rankings.

However, Li said at Indian Wells she had not signed any new endorsements following the Australian Open.
