Top seed Rafael Nadal thrilled a Spanish-speaking home crowd as he crushed Denis Istomin 6-1, 6-0 to steamroll into the fourth round. The Australian Open finalist fished off his demolition in 59 minutes with six breaks of serve to maintain a perfect 4-0 slate in the series with the Uzbek coached by his mother.

“I played a very complete match. No match is perfect, but I did a lot of things very well. No mistakes, serving with good percentage, and playing a lot of winners,” said Nadal.

Melbourne champion Stanislas Wawrinka, seeded third, defeated Frenchman Eduardo Roger-Vasselin 7-5, 6-4 as the Swiss lifts his level and builds up the confidence of a grand slam winner. “I’m just doing my job,” said Wawrinka. “My job is to play tennis, try to play the best possible, and to do that I have to practice well. That’s what I’m doing: stay focused on my tennis, it’s quite simple.

Tomas Berdych, the seventh seed beat Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-2, 6-4. Canadian 12th seed Milos Raonic took victory in less than an hour over Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-2 to next face lucky loser Benjamin Becker, a winner over Aljaz Bedene 6-3, 7-5.Alexandr Dolgopolov defeated lucky loser Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-5)
