MIAMI/SONY : SERENA , Sharapova , & Tidbits Of Tennis News

We love Miami. Always have. Miami on a pretty day is spectacular. Life on the Islands and Bays are fun too. Traffic is terrible but what else is new ? We are @ the Sony Open but we are hardly impressed by their list of daily celebs ! It’s Miami where are the real housewives of Miami ? Or all the other big time celebs that make Miami home ? Someone should ask the world famous “Garry” ( Mr.Miami) to liven up the celebs and the whole tourney.

It is our humble opinion that IMG rarely runs great events. They are more than unfair with their choices for Wildcards ! We can never forget Scottsdale ! Twice they wouldn’t give widcards to defending champions because they weren’t IMG clients. They are always short on bringing it all together. Box seats need to be sold out months in advance. It’s a matter of marketing and prices that run from very affordable all the way to super expensive similar to Indian wells. A hot dog or Nobu ? Where are the Paul Flory’s ? A tournament director that never took a salary in over forty years @ Cincinnati event. Charlie and Butch were in a heck of a pissing contest…. Neither one won….Larry Ellison won ! To save Miami you must market it to the whole east coast of America and Europe. It’s a Great spring break destination tourney . To save Miami you must make it a really fun experience for the fans. Infuse new celebs instead of Anna Wintour and some DJ ‘s.

Yo yo Malisse

Today’s tennis from Miami. Maria Sharapova won in three sets over Kirsten Flipkens. 10sballs.com had friends in both coaches seats. Xavier Malisse also known as the “X MAN” was in “Flippers” corner. And the famous Adidas coach Sven Groeneveld was in Maria’s corner. “Flip” hung in there pretty darn good. She took the first set @6-3 , lost the next 4-6 , and the third set was a blur 1-6. It was a little over 2 hours and it was exciting tennis. Maria served 10doubles. Not good. Not windy. Just can’t trust anything some days that she tosses ….

Serena Williams went right thru Coco Vandeweghe … She has too much action before she serves. It’s a lot of wind up. And she could lose a few more pounds. Too much weight on her ankles and knees and hips. Serena also since I’m on the subject…

Nice to see the Bryan brothers win as well as our buddy Max ” THE BEAST “Mirnyi and Felicano Lopez over Dodig/Melo.
