Eugenie Bouchard (Westmount, QC) advanced to the fourth round of a WTA Premier event for the first time in her career of Sunday at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.

Bouchard needed just 75 minutes to dispose of world no. 10 Sara Errani of Italy 6-3, 6-3, the third Top 10 victory of her career. The 20-year-old dominated most of the rallies, hitting 36 winners compared to only ten by her opponent. She also won 76 percent of her first serve points in the match. Bouchard has dropped ten games in her first two matches in Indian Wells. She will next face Romania’s Simona Halep, the newest member of the WTA Top 10 at no. 7, in a much-anticipated matchup between two of the hottest players on Tour right now. It will be the first meeting between the two players.

Vasek Pospisil (Vancouver, BC) played his first match on Sunday after benefiting from a first round bye as the tournament’s no. 25 seed. Pospisil had a tough day, falling 6-0, 6-2 to Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in just over an hour.

Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) and Aleksandra Wozniak (Blainville, QC) will both play their third round matches on Monday. Raonic will go up against Colombia’s Alejandro Falla, while Wozniak, who upset world no. 15 Sabine Lisicki in the second round, will face Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
