Davis Cup
Teams are moving into place for this weekend’s opening, with new Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka saying he will front up for Switzerland against Serbia in Novi Sad. “Davis Cup, it’s really important for me. I’m really proud. It’s a big honor to play for my country. So for sure I’m still thinking to go there. I don’t know how I’m going to get there exactly, if I’m still going to be there.” Roger Federer is again skipping the opening round and Serbia won’t have Novak Djokovic, one of Wawrinka’s Melbourne victims.
Other first-round ties include: the holder Czech Republic v Netherlands in Ostrava, Japan v Canada in Tokyo, Germany v Spain in Frankfurt, France v Australia in La Roche sur Yon, US v Britain at San Diego, Argentina v Italy at Mar del Plata and Kazakhstan v Belgium at Astana.
