Andy Murray’s Cromlix hotel project in his native Scotland will benefit from some punter input as Michelin-starred French chef Albert Roux offers the paying public a taste of what will be in store at the five-star hostelry’s restaurant when it opens in 2014.
Roux, who earned the first Michelin star for a British restaurant in 1967, will offer a menu tasting from January 18-24. The offsite event will occur as work continues on the hotel refurbishment in time for a spring opening. Murray will only watch from a distance with the tasting taking place during the Australian Open.
“I’m bringing together the Cromlix team to perfect the menu we’ve designed for Chez Roux at Cromlix,” Roux told Scottish media. “I’m actively looking for feedback from the guests and will join them for discussion throughout the meal.”
Roux will not personally run the Murray restaurant, only put his name to it and take some presumed profits. Punters interested in trying out the menu will pay 45 sterling ($75) per person, including wine. The hotel, a restored country mansion not far from Murray’s birthplace of Dunblane, will have five suites and 10 bedrooms, a chapel, a reception hall, two drawing rooms, a conservatory, a library and meeting rooms and is expected to be ready in time for the Ryder Cup golf to be played in the area in 2014.
