ASICS America has signed on as the new title sponsor of the ASICS World Tennis Classic tournament in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Known as the largest adult USTA sanctioned tournament in the country and the largest senior tournament in the world, over 750 players will compete at the Mission Hills Country Club, January 26 through February 2, 2014.
The ASICS World Tennis Classic is another step towards ASICS’s plan to expand its reach in the tennis category. Earlier this year the brand announced its multi-year sponsorship of the ASICS Easter Bowl, one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the nation. The ASICS World Tennis Classic will now enable ASICS to address the adult market, which is an important segment for the continued growth of the sport and the brand.
ASICS will have a large presence at the tournament with on-site activation including event signage, gift bags, and tournament prizes for top finishers. The latest ASICS award-winning tennis footwear, apparel and accessories will also be on display and available for purchase in the Mission Hills Country Club pro shop.
“Having an iconic brand such as ASICS as our title sponsor not only demonstrates the commitment of ASICS to the adult market but also lends increased credibility to the tournament itself”, says Ed Trost who along with his wife Jayne Robertson have been the tournament’s directors over the past 9 years. “With ASICS support of the largest junior event (Easter Bowl) and now the largest adult event will give the company exposure to a wide range of tennis players who in many respects act as ambassadors to the sport.”
