Bucknell director of athletics and recreation John Hardt has announced the restructuring of the Bison men’s and women’s tennis programs and named Craig Schwartz interim men’s head coach through the 2014 spring season and also announced that Rebecca Helt will continue in her 17th season as Bucknell’s head women’s tennis coach, and she will take on added responsibilities as Bucknell’s coordinator of tennis. . . Isabel Cavill, a senior retail analyst at Planet Retail believes that H&M, Uniqlo and UnderArmour have a good chance of eroding the market share of Nike and Adidas—but it will cost them to do so to play with the big boys. . . More than 300 players from all over the world descended on the Plaza Racquet Club for The Desert Tennis Association’s 20th annual Palm Springs Open Sunday morning that benefits the AIDS Assistance Program. Organizer Nabil Najjar expected the event to raise $10,000 for AIDS Assistance Program — $2,000 more than last year. . . Those in attendance can get her autograph or have their photo taken with Venus with proof of purchase of EleVen By Venus apparel. . . Russian Ekaterina Bychkova, who was passed over for the Russian Fed Cup team in the final in favor of two players ranked below her, Alisa Kleybanova and Irina Khromacheva, says that captain Shamil Tarpischev should have considered calling upon veterans such as her, Alla Kudryavtseva and Vera Dushevina. Russia was unable to recruit its top 13 singles players for various reasons. Italy shut out Russia to win the title. “Being in the theater of the absurd is rather tired,” she said. The outspoken Russian also had this to say about Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov romantic relationship “Love is love, and that’s fine, but in this love [affair] PR still gives a bit.” . . . Grigor Dimitrov is now pleased to be recognized for his own game rather than being compared style wise to Roger Federer. “[People say] ‘Wow, this is Grigor, he is now. That’s what I wanna hear! I think there have been enough comparisons with Federer and all the rest. I mean, I do not think I should be compared to him because he is the greatest of all time and I’m not even close. I still have a long way to go.” . . . Blick is reporting that Rafael Nadal made around $10 million for playing one week of exhibitions in South America last month.
