Tommy Haas beat jet-lag after flying transatlantic to participate in a weekend charity exhibition in a part of Germany which barely sees any professionals on court. Haas, jetted in from Los Angeles to face compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber, winning the exhibition at Ludwigsburg 7-6(5), 7-6(4).
Haas tweeted his interest in doing his bit for charity as he traveled to the event which was held in aid of “A Heart for Children ” to support the typhoon victims in the Philippines. Haas and Kohlschreiber also donated gear including racquets and clothing which went up for auction. A Stuttgart sports shop also donated 100 EUR each ace fired during the exhibition.
“Respect for Tommy, he really played well,” said the 22nd-ranked Kohlschreiber. “When you consider that he has come directly from Los Angeles to this match, it’s especially impressive.” Added Haas: the change from 25 degrees in Los Angeles on the temperatures here in Germany is not very easy. who consoled himself with a post-victory glass of Christmas lulled wine. “But to help the children in the Philippines, was the most important thing.”
