Martina Hingis’ 2013 comeback, which lasted all of six weeks, may be the last the tennis world sees her on the WTA. Sources say that Hingis has no plans to compete next year, even though some January tournaments Down Under are saying that she is planning to play there. The 33-year-old may play some exhibitions, but appears to be done hacking out with the youngsters on a weekly basis.
Former No. 1 Hingis came back last summer and teamed up with Daniela Hantuchova in doubles, but in five tournaments together they were unable to pass the second round.
She then turned down wild cards offers in Asia.
Hingis is also involved in divorce proceedings with her soon to be former husband Thibault Hutin, who has accused her, her mother and stepfather of assaulted him. Hingis camp has called the charges “utterly ridiculous.”
