10sballs.com Insider Interview: Brett Connors  |

10sballs.com is proud to present a special one-on-one interview with the one and only Brett Connors. He’s a gifted photographer, works in production for ESPN, and has one of the most impressive travel resumes you’ve ever seen. Brett has all the knowledge and experience in tennis to land him any job in the industry. He studied Art in college and photography is becoming one of his favorite passions as he shoots some of the clearest and tasteful pieces of his travels that you’ll come across.

An avid sports lover, Brett is probably one of the foremost “insiders” out there. He’s seen it all, walked the walk, and now wants to share his unique perspectives through his work. Working behind the scenes allows Brett the opportunity to discuss all matters related to the sport. For example he was so passionate and honest when talking about the different directions tennis takes when it comes to advertising and marketing – While we will never lose the “country club” crowd, Brett introduced ideas about attracting the younger generations who might not know about the gifts that tennis can give. Having been a part of tennis history for so many years gives Brett these kinds of attitudes that simply wouldn’t be available to someone who hasn’t been there. He definitely rides a progressive wave that would be beneficial for both tours.

Did we mention the sense of humor? One story for instance will shed light on the classic humor probably passed down from father to son over the years: When young Brett was at the Lipton Championships in Florida one year, he recalled being in a training room with both men’s and women’s locker rooms on the adjacent sides. As his dad was being worked on by the physio, Brett became bored and began burrowing a hole through one of the walls using a small hand crank drill he found. With many veteran male players egging him on, Brett continued his project over the following days, unknowingly uncovering a truly insider’s view of the women’s locker room! Hilarity ensues but the down to earth nature and fun-loving character remained, and is thus apparent in many of Brett’s still photographs.

One of Brett’s more recent projects (or escapade) with his father was during Jimmy’s recently released memoir, The Outsider. Creating the iconic images of the book cover and cover pages in historic Montecito, California allowed Brett to give the readers their first impressions of one of the game’s foremost pioneers and lovable outsiders.

Brett Connors is certainly a name you should keep in mind for the future of tennis. A bright individual with aspirations and a love of the game, an ever-increasing resume the likes of which tennis has never seen, it seems a no-brainer that this Connors will also capture the hearts of many in the sport.
