Former world No.8 Alicia Molik and Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants will join the community of Parkes Shire this Saturday November 16 when they attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most people bouncing tennis balls on racquets.

Up to 1000 people are expected to be involved in the challenge with anyone in the community and surrounding towns invited to be a part of the action.

The Guinness World Record opportunity is part of an array of fun tennis activities set to feature in Parkes as part of the AO Blitz. The main street, Clarinda Street, will be closed off on Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for the festivities.

The AO Blitz is the largest participation drive ever seen in Australian tennis and is a national competition that allows people who play tennis – and those who have never picked up a racquet – the chance to win major prizes and have an Australian Open 2014 player represent their local town.

The brand new initiative will travel to every state and territory in Australia before January.
