Andy Murray’s new company, 77, has appointed Lagardere Unlimited as commercial consultants, with a remit to work exclusively on new commercial deals.
The Lagardere team, headed by John Tobias and Gawain Davies, won a head to head battle with IMG for the right to work on world no.4 and Wimbledon champion Murray’s behalf. They will work with and report into the existing 77 management team, with the arrangement starting immediately.
This means Mahesh Bhupathi, who had been working with Andy for the last seven months, will leave the current set-up to focus on his final year on the court and other business interests, including Indian Premier League Tennis.
Murray said: “The appointment of Lagardere represents the final piece in the jigsaw of my new team at 77. I’ve got a great team of people around me who I trust, both on and off the court, which in turn allows me to completely focus on my tennis – exciting times lay ahead.”
John Tobias, President, Lagardere Tennis added: “It’s a privilege for our group at Lagardere Unlimited to begin working with Andy and his team at 77. We are convinced of Andy’s commercial potential and we plan to hit the ground running to capitalize on Andy’s on-court success as the Wimbledon and Olympic Champion.”
