The Canadian coaching merry-go-round continues, with teenaged WTA talent Eugenie Bouchard calling time on her relationship with former French champion Nathalie Tauziat, a period in which the 19-year-old rose to her current 32nd in the world.
The teenager is working more now with Nick Saviano in Florida, an occasional mentor since she started seriously in tennis. “I found myself spending more time in Florida this year and it will continue to be my training grounds next year so I’m going to train with Saviano most of the time. He’ll travel with me more, especially to the majors,” said Bouchard, who reached her first WTA final this month in Osaka, losing to Samantha Stosur.
Only days ago, former fellow junior grand slam champion Filip Peliwo of Canada teamed up with Spaniard Galo Blanoc, former coach to Canada’s world No. 11 Milos Raonic.
Tauziat played the 1998 Wimbledon final and had also worked with Wimbledon winner Marion Bartoli, now retired. “She helped me a lot,” said Bouchard. “But since I’ve been spending more time in Florida, Nick is my main coach.”
Bouchard will undergo her off-season training under her new arrangement and then team with compatriot Milos Raonic for the Canadian team starting in late December at the Hopman Cup mixed team competition in Perth.
