There were four singles finalists on Sunday in ASICS and two were carrying the trophy by the end of the day!
At the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, Sam Stosur (ASICS FW & APP) made her second consecutive final in as many weeks but lost 7-6(1), 6-2 to the 5th seed and current world #14 Simona Halep. Sam came back to win the doubles title 6-1, 1-6, 10-8 along with her partner Svetlana Kuznetsova whom Sam had just beaten the day prior in the singles semi-final.
On the men’s side, the #1 seed Richard Gasquet (ASICS FW) came back to win the singles title with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Mikhail Kukushkin from Kazakhstan.
The final of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna featured two players in ASICS FW as the #2 seed Tommy Haas (ASICS FW) took on Robin Haase (ASICS FW). Robin Haase came into the final with a lot of confidence as he had an incredible week leading up to it upsetting the #1 seed Tsonga, #3 seed Fognini and #7 seed Pospisil. The final was a back-n-forth battle with the elder statesman Tommy Haas winning in the end 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
We also had ASICS in the doubles final of the EBO as Daniel Nestor (ASICS FW) and his partner made the final after a good week but finished as runner-ups.
This week….
Gael Monfils is playing at the Valencia Open where he drew the #1 seed David Ferrer in the first round.
Vasek Pospisil is playing the Swiss Indoors where he drew a rematch against Robin Haase who beat him this past week.
Coco Vandeweghe and Julia Bosreup are playing the $50K in Saguenay, Canada
Irina Falconi is the #1 seed at the $50K in Bendigo, Australia
Joao Souza and Guilherme Clezar are playing the Copa Topper in Buenos Aires, Argentina
