Maria Sharapova is not rushing her rehab program after the summer’s shoulder injury, with the former No. 1 taking the chance to combine quality time with ATP love interest Grigor Dimitrov with rehab on her injury. This week, the pair are in Stockholm, where Dimitrov is finding his feet with newly appointed coach Roger Rasheed.
His high-profile girlfriend is also along for the ride in the Swedish capital, where the October weather is still far from cold and the autumn scenery is spectacular. Sharapova, 26, has been tweeting reports of her progress in the gym as she works to get for the start of 2014.
“Stability and shoulder work together,” she said on Facebook after posting a gym picture. She later tweeted her enjoyment at walking in the changing Scandinavian landscape in a waterfront city riddled with green space.
The LA-based Russian – Dimitrov has now set up a camp in the city also – has withdrawn from next week’s WTA Championships in Istanbul but will play a series of December exhibitions in Bogota, Mexico City and Thailand by way of training for the January start of the new season.
Sharapova last appeared on court in August when she made what turned out to be a rushed return to tennis after losing in the Wimbledon second round more than a month earlier.
