Roger Federer is a squeaky clean athlete. It’s clear that’s he is clear. You have never seen his neck size increase ( collar size ) . You’ve never seen him have an overnight miraculous recovery. You’ve never seen him have a “roid rage ” …You’ve seen a champion win more Slams than anyone and be a gentleman and good sport all the while. I think Roger has won the Stefan Edberg sportsmanship award more than anyone.

So what am I trying to say? I’m saying that you have to question some of the other players … It’s really that simple. Roger can quietly glide around the court with a simply elegant style that no ones ever seen before. Maybe Don Budge had a bit of that or Fred Perry or Bobby Riggs. But Federer’s focus and anticipation are truly amazing. You could probably do a poll at your local tennis club and Roger Federer wins. He causes anyone and everyone in tennis to have to stop and watch. Every Federer match is a “must see. ”

We hope are pray to see many more years of the “maestro.” We miss those years where we could count on Roger to be holding the winners trophy. Or be in the finals. Or being in the semis. But losing in the U.S. Open quarters ? That was sad. The difference was for RF to play on the smaller stadium was just too weird. He wasn’t comfortable on the smaller court. He couldn’t find his bearings.

Why is Roger so popular? It’s simple . He makes it look so easy. He travels thru life smiling and thanking people. He is a kind man with a ten year old foundation that does terrific things all over the world. He concentrates on South Africa. But does plenty everywhere including junior tennis in Switzerland.

We hope he makes the Barclays year end champs. It’s looking good with Murray out. We hope he finishes the year the number one Swiss player. Father Time and Stan are gaining on him.

But most of all we need transparency in the players found to be enhancing their performances thru non approved methods.
