Novak Djokovic appears pleased with his budding commercial relationship with Uniqlo, which provides both his tennis and off-court casual wear.
The world No. 1 happily serves as a walking promotion for the trendy Japanese brand, which has outposts all over Asia.
The world’s top player has all of his talking points well-rehearsed: “They are basically a casual wear brand, the biggest one in Asia and expanding around the world,” the Serb said at the US Open. “They are quite a young clothing brand. They have this great vision and mission to be the best at what they do, so I thought it was a great match for me.”
Djokovic became the company’s second tennis signing after Japan’s home hero Kei Nishikori. The European came over after Italy’s Segio Tacchini could not pay all of his performance bonuses after runaway success in 2011, when he reached the world No. 1 ranking.
“They are slowly. they are getting into sports. In the golf also with Adam Scott. I will not tell you what I sleep in, but I am wearing their jeans and shirt. But I’m mostly in my sport clothes, definitely, because that’s my usual daily wear.”
